Two people, one bad habit.
Akrasia Studios is Chris and Vahag, in Los Angeles. Chris is a lawyer. Vahag writes the code that actually runs.
We make small games for phones. The kind you open because you have four minutes and a bad reason. The studio is named for the thing it sells: akrasia is the old Greek word for knowing better and doing it anyway. One more board. One more bet with money that was never real.
We build everything ourselves and test it on our own phones, which is why the games are small and why the bugs are personal.
We have kids. They have opinions.
We both have young children, and young children need entertaining at a rate no adult can sustain. That is how two people who make a betting simulator ended up drawing a mole in a hard hat.
The kids' games started as the things we wished existed at 6:40 on a Tuesday. Something that teaches a little, costs nothing to open, and does not quietly turn into a slot machine. Our own kids test every build. They are also loud, and under the impression they are paid in gems, so we found better reviewers: the teachers and administrators who help us make them, over on the Kids page.
House rules.
- In the grown-up games, ads appear in one place, On the Hook, and the privacy policy says exactly what that means. We wrote it ourselves, in sentences.
- Nothing we make involves real money. On the Hook is a career on a bankroll that was never real, and it stays that way.
- No tracking on this site. The fonts live here, the videos live here, and nobody is counting you.
Say hello.
Two of us read every message. Most get an answer within a day. If something is broken, that jumps the line.
