Kids

Ages five to ten.

Small games for small people.

Three games in development for kids five to ten. Teachers and administrators from local elementary schools read the word lists, play the levels, and send things back. We change things.

The games.

All of them small, all of them made for a phone a parent hands over at the table.

Word Burrow

Tuck is a mole with a half-built house. Tap two halves to make a word, and the word turns into a thing in his burrow: teapot, bookshelf, bathtub. For readers five to nine, and the ones who are nearly there.

Number Burrow

Same mole, different job. Drop numbered crates until they make ten and the ground gives way. Counting stones, buried finds, a dinosaur somewhere down there. Subtraction sneaks in on its own.

In development

Elbows

One phone, flat on the table, up to five people around it. Twenty-second games, kids against grown-ups, and the grown-ups are handicapped on purpose. For the wait before the food comes.

In development

For grown-ups.

None of these can be downloaded yet. Before any of them can, the privacy policy will say in plain language what that game does and does not collect, and what, if anything, costs money. Questions, or something your kid found a way around: hello@akrasiastudios.com.

Built with educators.

We don't finish a game and then find out whether it works.

Teachers and administrators from local elementary schools look at these while they are being made. They read the word lists and tell us which words a first grader can read and which ones only look easy. They tell us where a six-year-old's attention goes, and why a clock on a classroom game is a bad idea. When we get something wrong, they tell us that too, and we change it.

If you teach and would like to be part of this, write to hello@akrasiastudios.com.

Akrasia Kids is the same two people as Akrasia Studios, with young kids of our own. More about us.
